Adagio Bed & Breakfast
The Adagio Bed & Breakfast is located in the Wyman Historic District in downtown Denver. The Wyman Historic District was first developed in the 1880's by John Wyman. The Wyman neighborhood was and is a unique slice of the Architecture, Geography and History of Denver during its early boom/bust period and beyond. This district contains the largest collection of original 19th Century architectural masterpieces with stone and brick mansions. Eleven distinct architectural styles are represented-from Greek Revival to Queen Anne, Italianate to Folk Victorian and the Denver Square. Many of the structures were constructed at the height of the "Silver Boom" in the 1880's and 1890's and continued undaunted throughout the "Silver Bust" which followed.
Currently, the Wyman Historic District is experiencing a resurgence in development. Colfax Avenue (1/2 block to the north of the Adagio) boasts transportation to downtown Denver and the Convention Center 24/7. Restaurants and shops are appearing on the landscape; Cheesman Park (two blocks to the south of the Adagio) offers walking paths and people watching under a multitude of mature trees.
Clearly, this neighborhood is one of Denver's finest gems and is enormously valued for its architectural edifices, its small shopping areas featuring grocery stores, tailors, bakeries, and drug stores, and the lush landscapes of its streets. |
